Priya is authentic and has a multicultural lens to counselling. She has experience supporting clients in a variety of areas such as: substance use, comorbid mental health conditions, survivors of sexual abuse and those with a history of other forms of trauma. Priya has also provided care to those with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem and suicidality. Having lived and worked across the globe, Priya has a unique perspective and appreciation of the diversity of human nature and culture. She is enthusiastic and committed to exemplary client care.
Priya employs an eclectic approach that is client-centred, anti-oppressive, and culturally sensitive and draws from various theoretical orientations. Her lived experience helps her to understand the challenges of immigrants and of BIPOC communities. Her hope is to provide clients with culturally appropriate skills and coping strategies for expanding their resilience.
There is a unique and powerful story for each of us that deserves to be heard and validated. I believe in meeting people where they are, walking alongside them in their journey of self-exploration and helping them to uncover their strengths that precede healing, restoration and growth. I’m committed to empathetic listening and providing a safe space that is filled with genuine curiosity and a non-judgemental stance.
To refuel myself, I love to travel, play string instruments, watch Netflix crime thrillers and of course indulge in food!
